    PC rebooting? Empty PC rebooting?

Post  Dibzster Sun Dec 04, 2011 9:09 am

Hey - has anyone else had their PC reboot while playing BF3?

I can be playing along no problems then BAM - my machine reboots.

Im running the latest video drivers and my machine is only 3 months old. Heat is not an issue.

    thoughts?

It only seems to be doing it since the patch - maybe that's it?

Could be a windows error, but seeing as your system is only 3 mo nothing should be corrupt. Wait till the new patch in a few days and see if you still have the issue.

Most likley RAM or GPU. Getting a new PC doesn't guarantee the parts are 100%. Seen this issue in a few PC's and it's always turned out too be a faulty part. Run Memtest then something like Prime95 to see what your system is doing.

Well the patch didnt fix my rebooting issue. I have decided to take the PC back to the shop and get them to replace the Mobo and ram. hopefully that will fix it.

have you done any self diagnosis yourself ?
could possibly a loose stick of ram or your cpu heatsink not seated properly ?

unless they're going to try and find the problem under warranty, it may cost you a bit for something minor

They have to fix it under warranty until they find the part responsible. Say its the RAM and its still under warranty then they foot the bill. If its something that isn't under warranty then *sad face*.

They ran some stress testing software and it turned out the CPU was hitting 74C and averaging 68C...

Glad to at least know it wasn't a driver issue!

I would normally do all the testing myself etc however when its a brand new machine and under warranty, I don't touch it lest I give them an excuse to void said warranty.

Thanks to everyone for the advice by the way!
