yea just reading up it seems that 2 xfired 6970s are better than one 6990 (just) which is due to the 6990 being two underclocked 6970s in one card.

So xfired 6970s seem to be the new option.
    -cheaper
    -faster (just)
    -a FUCK-TONNE QUIETER!!!

    Remember here people:

2 cards = more power consumption.
2 cards does not equal double the fps. ( up to 40% is likely )
2 cards will generate more heat.
Not all games support , or at least support very well - 2 or more cards.

Not saying you shouldnt get 2 cards. But...
-Check your game supports it. ( look up benchmarks ) <- Very Important. Games that dont support crossfire / SLi, may have the opposite effect.
-Compare prices & also check mobo is crossfire compatible.

    Me personally:
Im checking out the prices in the USA. Around $120 cheaper than here and its a good time too with the exchange rate.
Also ATI / AMD 7000 series are expected before BF3 comes out so you may want to wait till then before deciding.

-6 series price will drop likely.
-7 series will likely be more powerful.

Lol.. If the 7000 series come out then, I will be taking out a loan with my parents and buying the top range one lol...

I am purchasing a 1200W Silverstone Stryker Gold power supply. Mainly to future proof myself for any other upgrades in the future of about 2-3 years.
