New Website Updates!!!

Hey everyone, in case you didn't know I'm the guy that has been working on the new forums and website.

In terms of progression we have the main site pretty well figured out and its just content that now needs to go in.

For the forum side of things we are using mybb. I've been speaking with crusader and a few others about which themes we could use for the forum but we agreed it would be just best to ask you guys. You can take a look at http://mods.mybb.com/themes for some themes and feel free to post them here.

Generally I can edit the colours pretty easily so don't worry about that, more going for the feel of the theme.

One I've been looking at is http://mods.mybb.com/view/gamesmania-for-1-6. Let me know what you all think.

We will probably make a decision on Tuesday night so that the site can hopefully go live by next friday!

Why are we making a new website ?

-This forum was created in a hurry and was a temporary measure after the crisis during the final hours of OTF.
-The forum is running a very old & very vulnerable version of invision. If someone out there really wanted to hack us. It wouldnt take them much.
-This forum has very limited data storage.
-We have limited control over this site, and of course limited capability to customize.
-This forum is located in france, so its not the best in terms of performance & bandwidth.
-We would like our own domain.








Confirmed for the new forum:

-Much more disk space.
-Pretty much unlimited bandwidth.
-Security.
-Customizable.
-Separate front page & forums.
-Widgets.
-Intergration with twitter & facebook.
-Front page posts for all the latest updates, scrim times & extra info.
-Simplified site with faster load times SAVING YOU time, bandwidth & your datacaps.

theme looks okay, just get it up. we can add crap later.

also jimi is doing the background and banners so think we're in good hands with
looking good (yay)

I dont like the mybb theme.

Sweet as, took a look and will probably be easy to change and it will match the front page well if I can get the correct colours.

We will have a play around with it and let everyone know on Tuesday if we are going for it.

That theme and layout looks good.

Flashback will be creating the site, with Jimi doing the banners etc.

New members section:
Is there a way we could show the newest clan members after they've been accepted?
we have the newest people to apply to the forums but it would
be good if we had an area or like a week period where it showed the newest
SoV members if you know what i mean.
just so people can see them , know they're new and squad up.

like they're still members, just its easier to tell whos news with the overflow of
applicants if you know what i mean.

Member profile:
better profiles than what we have now, with age, location, interests, games they play etc
so its easier to see who plays what outside of BF3 if you want to play with other people.

I agree with mel, especially with the profile part. at the moment without having them as friends on steam (for steam games), or asking them. we have no way of knowing what games members play, other than scouring the forums for their application. reckon this will be a great feature.

U can already do that on this forumotion forum if I remember correctly. If you want I can pm/post how to do it if u can?
