    In order to find the best tank crew , i think we will need a small competition to find out!!

    To those interested, pair up and we will hold some challenges, i had these in mind

    tank v tank,
    tank point defence v. 1 squad,
    tank point offence vs 1 squad
    tank v a.heli

    We can alter the challenges as necessary to find the best test of skillz

    Good idea but i think it would be better to work out who are the best gunners and drivers seperately rather than pairing from the start. While it requires teamwork to use a tank, often there will be only one person in a tank or the driver or gunner will change. Also it is important to be good with a rpg, torch and engineer guns.

    I think the best trial is playing in practice scrims or even on pub servers against a variety of targets and attackers.

    In setup scenarios things are often differant, for example a choppa vs a tank without other forces = certain death if the choppa isnt shit. When there is a jet and other stuff to keep the choppa low and distracted it is much easier to shoot it down.

    Im keen to enter the competition regardless of how it is done.

    i think the enemies taking down the tank need to be constant, so ask hb or some of our members who dont want to try out to be the gank squad. if we cycle through our own players in a tank gank squad, its going to be different every time. that being said i think tank v tank is the best way to go straight up, seeing as how that's the most important role of the tank/lav.

    tank v a.heli will be measured in time the tank stays alive, bonus points for taking the heli down.


    tanks shouldnt be operating alone in a scrim, maybe we should just run it 1 squad vs 1 squad w/ tank. These pairings arnt permanent btw.

    good training for both.

    yes for a fair comp we would need a steady opposition buts that not quite the aim here, id rather not have to ask HB if we can do it ourselves.

    We could escalate the force sent against the tank.
    Eventually the tank will fall so we can see who puts up the strongest fight. -

    1st Tank v tank -firestorm.

    heli pilots (good ones atleast) won't go below radar right next to a tank its attacking, its suicide. also the intial test was for how long the tank would last against a heli, good luck locking on with guided when the heli is flying straight over the tank.

    EDIT: also i just remembered that third seat isn't allowed

    Ok, this is what i have to say you have about 20 seconds to kill or disable the chopper and the best time to shoot with the main gun is when they are passing over and pulling up for another pass over...

    ^ if the need a second pass, you can kill a tank with 1 pass. and the chopper doesn't even need to fly near the tank, he can sit back and let the gunner do the work if he wants. or just hover right above the tank, then the gunner just rips it apart.

    on a side not, front to front confrontations is good, but its not that easy in scrims, generally one of the tanks will have superior position over the other tank, or sneak up on it. you also need to judge how good at being aware and positioning the tank driver is. they need to know where the other tank is and how to best use the terrain to his/her advantage.


    But i will definitely volunteer to help out with this, especially in the heli part. (if necessary)

    You can circle a tank turret at such an angle which the tank cant fire apon you and is still low enough to avoid stingers and lock ons.

    TV missiles are now back to 1 shot kill after the maintenance DICE conducted a few days ago so tank v heli practice is going to be impossible unless some pressure is being put on the heli from air. ie try to simulate scrim conditions

    I dont believe that is right trigger, me and logz were flying the chopper for 2 rounds in a row yesterday, basically only tv'n. and all i was able to do with 1 tv hit was dissable the tank. never got to hit a tank directly in the butt, however, i did hit them plenty of times on top, on the sides, in the front, on the tread. and nothing more than a dissable at most, it might have dropped the tank to very low hp% but was never a 1 hit kill.

    also the hit registration has being messed up again with the tv's, the ammount of times which i had a direct hit on ether a tank, chopper or human and no damage was done, is making them slightly hit and miss again, but this is only about a 20% chance of miss as compared to the original 60%.

    in saying this it may just be me that is having these issues. its not unusual for me to get things differently in the game to what others do.

    Hrmmm.... interesting. Maybe I need to go have another look.

    I was in a pub server straight after the server maintenance and had a go at both flying and gunner. First my gunner got 3 INSTA-kills with the TV. Then when I was gunner I got 4 in a row.

    It may be a possible that the tanks you guys were against were using reactive. Likewise (and more likely) it also is possible that the guys I was against were already damaged before the tv went into them. Still a huge coincidence either way. 7 instant TV missile kills in a row was enough for me to call it... i'll have to look into this

    Fair enough, i just remember them saying somewhere that they were going to be changing them so that they couldnt 1 hit kill, and that is what i have been experiencing, but it is highly likely that you could be 1 hitting the tanks, the inconsistency in this game is amazing sometimes.

    ill be running a little practice at some point and i would like you two along with any others who are interested to come along, get some pointers and have a little practice.
