    EDIT: Also Norton is terrible. It uses too much system resources.

    Microsoft Security Essentials (2.0 ver) is really good and easy on the resources.
    AVG is bad as it has become bloatware.
    Avast is good.

    the free version of AVG is bad, I have a cracked pro version and its alright.

    If I was to pay for AV, I'd get NOD32.

    Good firewall. But unnessary tbh. And again uses more resources.
    These days its all malware.

    Running smoothwall on another box is best.
    But windows firewall works just fine.

    I use McAfee as i got a free year with my laptop

    but either way im literally not too fussed like scarecrow said.
