BC2 Fixes and Performance Enhancement Thread:

Dont be a NOOB. Read all of this before implementing / experimenting.


Firstly. This will / may only work for people on ISPs who prioritise traffic, especially by port based traffic.

I have been suffering the odd disconnection and lag.






By adding in this command here:

+clientport 27005 (can rage to 27032) *DO NOT use 27020


Allows multiple users to play over a single public IP network.


This command:

-pingInterval 50000

Can help connection issues too.








How do I apply ?

Either:

A: Locate the BFBC2Game.exe, MAKE A SHORTCUT *essential* and paste those commands into the new shortcut made
(seperated by a space, positioned at the end after the exclaimation mark, in the Target field)

EG:

"E:\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield bad company 2\BFBC2Game.exe" +clientport 80 -pingInterval 50000


or

B: Just use the steam launch options, paste them in seperated by a space.








[color=orange]Please note people:

-This is only experimental.
-Have only tried it for one day (with suffering NO disconnects )
-May not work or have no effect for other ISPs.
-The port changing command can be handy if you have a buddy round and you are both trying to play BC2 on the internet on the same connection (will only allow one BC2 game with that port on the network, so you have to manually change the other).





If anyone else wishes to try this out, please let me know how it goes for you.
*Some of you pro's may have already thought of this and done it already

Potential Fix: Disconnect upon joining server.


The community has indicated Punkbuster is the issue behind this.
The solution is to set PnkBstr.A and PnkBstr.B processes to "high" priority in the task manager.


This can be an ANNOYING solution as who wants to mess around with that every time you want to play ?

Basically just choose "high" priority on the punk buster processes in task manager, and save.

And if you dont have PB running 24/7?

You need it running to play BC2 ranked.



PB isnt a cpu or memory intensive program, so theres no real reason to have it disabled.
