    Hey guys.

I recently got a ATI Radion 6770HD card, and have been having overheating problems. Currently i have my fan rigged up to the open side of my PC cooling it, but does anyone else have any solutions?

    Cheers

Do you have the means to post up a small pic of yr rig mate??, a quick look at yr setup would give a better idea of flow and such. Other than that i suggest upgrading (or adding) better fans, and forgive the "Doh" suggestion, but as a pc tech, you would not believe how many ive seen that are are mounted the wrong way around lol.. pirat
EDIT; Sry pilot, didn't mean 2 jump on yr back, posted before i seen you had lol.

Have you checked the BIOS settings for case temp and CPU temp shutdowns?, those cards run notoriously hot at high requirements, you definetly need good system airflow through your case to vent out the extra heat if those settings are active. I'm also assuming your rig it'self is capable of handling said card, eg; 450+ Watt PSU with 6pin power ports for the card (not just relying on the PCI-E port to provide power) Could you give a few Spec's pls mate?. scratch

to help us out in helping you it's best you post up your current system and a pic if you could:

cpu: brand, specific cpu model, overclocked ?, aftermarket cooling ?
ram: brand, no. of sticks, gigabytes
    gpu: brand, model, overclocked ?
    motherboard: brand, model
case: brand, model, no. of cooling fans

try running this to see what kind of temps your cpu and gpu are getting

Have you disabled Automatic restart on system crash?

Also we don't need the whole system specs just a pic and a list of cooling.

I'd be buying aftermarket cooling for that. Its not good if it gets over 60C let alone 90C!

I've contacted evga regarding the gpu temps and they said it's fine the threshold is 98 degrees. They also said that if it does break then the awesome evga lifetime warranty will cover it

I used to have this issue on my old PC, my card got to 107 degrees once!

To resolve it I just bought a cheap as 80mm Fan and made sure it was directed at my video card. from then on it never got hotter then 56 degrees.

See it doesn't restart unless I manually start it up again. I would think it is overheating my CPU. My dad said he is going to buy a 6inch fan and put that in, also if need be get a bigger CPU fan. My processor is only AMD Athlon II quad core 3.0ghz. 4gb ram. If there's any other spec you need to know tell me, if the fan doesn't cool it well enough I'm going to be looking for alternative cooling solutions.

your system is pretty old now, so you must have changed something recently to cause it to crash.
what changes did you make or was it simply the hotter weather ?

if it's either cpu or gpu overheating with the factory cooling then you have bad ventilation

Also how clean is your machine? Dust build up can be a big cause of it too. buy a can of compressed air and give it a good clean
