Ideas for new forums

If you have any ideas / requests / suggestions.

Profile section!

when you join on this forum it asks you interests
occupation etc but you can't see it anywhere.

it would be cool if we got a profile section so when you
clicked on someone profile you can see their interests,
games,name, location and age (if they wanted to share that)

Nah srsly. FB is lame imo.

But.... its also one of (if not THE) most used website out there, so yea I will take a look into this.

Better Images. Eg: Buttons, Clocks, Badges...

I have seen a preview of the new forums.


Currently the preview will only be shared with a couple just for a first glance.

*Do not want a repeat of BF3 beta rage fail.

*Please respect this decision. It will only be for initial thoughts.
More work will be done if people approve the inital layout & operation of the new site.
If not... Back to the drawing board.



At the moment:

-Base theme for the portal - done.
-Base layout - partially done.
-Forums - Not done.

*We are not sure what to power the forums with.
-One idea we have is to run the main site with Word press.
-We will power the forums which will be accessable via a link at the top of the page, with myBB.

Would greatly prefer it to be shared with the council members just for the initial layout thoughts.

Once we get a yay or nay, we will go from there.




ETA is after the BF3 release unfortunately.

If you want someone who designs websites everyday to have a looksie I am all eyes...

Its limited in what you can do with it because its a free forum. You can only place a BG. Can't do anything special with it like splitting it down the sides.

Perhaps I should break up the above banner into a big ass background version of it (minus text and what not - i did original at double size) and then put the text logo etc in a transparent background png to sit nicely on top in banner section? That could look much dopeness was not aware you could insert bg image!

Ok so have had a good look at this site on some other monitor resolutions... How many of you have to sideways scroll to view the content area? That kinda sux - I thought it built the layout according to the viewport size (lol what was I thinking - free template!) but it seems it builds super wide regardless? and the background starts its repeat from the left side of screen dependant on screen res...

that said: Are there options in the admin panel for the format of background? do you have access to css? Essentially what we want is a background image, centred and placed over a black background (#000000) with no repeat. code would look something like:

body {background-color:#b0c4de; background-image:url('background here'); background-repeat:no-repeat;}

If we can do that THEN we are cooking with some motherfucking gas!

That is all - just had to ask that before continuing. And i have no game AND its raining...

I can't find anywhere to edit the CSS. The theme only deals with the images, and colours. With regards to the Background it only gives the option to choose the BG and make it static (Current) or repeating vertically. The forum width is set to 1600.
